The Mac factory has been around for a while. It was only minutes away from home. My wife loves to go there a lot. I am not in sweet addiction though. However, I went there and gave it a crack the other day and thought to share my experience with you guys.
Before I officially, let’s make something clear. “Adelaidefoodies” blog often got searched by the term “woolworths macaroons” because I blogged about the Chateau Blanc macarons before. However, did you notice the difference between the search term and the name? Yes, “Macaroons” and “Macarons”. This is not a typo!
A macaroon is a lightly baked cake-like cookie originated from Italy and France. It sometimes may contain almonds but it’s definitely not the macaron we eat from day to day. The pictures of both of them are shown below.
The mac factory is located on the second floor of Post office on Hutt Street, specialising in hand-made macarons. Before nesting in this location, they were around in many outdoor markets, selling a variety of products. Now, they have became the first specialty macaron shop in Adelaide.
The shop was pretty much decorated as a typical cafe but with plenty of macarons everywhere. One of the room was a book store selling cook books. The macarons on offer were listed on the blackboard, reminding me of old school times. The atmosphere was very friendly and calming. Red walls, colorful macarons and classic musics were the main image/branding of the store when I first entered the store.
There were 20 standard macaron flavours on sale in the store. With the friendly and helpful assistance from the owners, I chose 6 different flavoured macarons.
Sorry I can’t really remember what I ordered exactly. However, the tastes of these macarons were unforgettable. They were super sweet and crispy. In fact, every bite of these macarons were exciting. They melt very easily in mouth. The almond meal taste and mouthfeel were very strong. The different flavours can be even fully enhanced with drinking some black teas. Moreish!
In fact, I liked the macarons very much except that it being sooooo sweet. However, if you are in addiction to sugar and sweets, I reckon the Mac factory is the place to go!
